- Title: Female Refuge Worker
- Location: Sheffield and Rotherham
- Contract type: Permanent (dependent on funding)
- Hours: 18.5 hours per week
- Salary: £18,500 – 21,000 (pro rata)
- Recruiter: Ashiana Sheffield
Ashiana Sheffield works with Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) women, children and young people to escape violence and abuse and specialise in those areas of abuse which are most prevalent within BAMER communities such as domestic and sexual abuse, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, human trafficking, gang violence and ‘honour’-based violence. The aim of our work is to increase life opportunities to enable those that are vulnerable to move away from the risk of violence and into safe, stable and happier futures.
We are looking for a committed individual to support clients with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) whose immigration condition restricts access to public funds, including many mainstream benefits such as welfare and housing and to raise awareness of the issues that women with NRPF face and provide advocacy support to ensure access to rights and entitlements.
You will be responsible for supporting women residing in Ashiana’s refuge provision who have experienced violence and abuse, particularly those with NRPF and help identify agencies and individuals who could provide appropriate support.
You will work with the team to identify cross sector training and awareness raising opportunities and help source and develop new and innovative funding streams to support the project.
You should have excellent IT skills and experience of working with management information systems/processes would be an advantage. Excellent communication skills are essential.
Experience of working with BAMER groups in a professional or voluntary capacity or an evidence of passion for and commitment to support BAMER clients with NRPF is desirable.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who would like to develop their support and engagement skills within BAMER communities and development skills across a range of sectors to support a leading local charity and improve the quality of life of some of the UK’s most vulnerable women and children.
